This holiday season, you can make a big impact on the lives of people living with mental illness in BC.
Mental health issues can come for anyone. Our family members. Our neighbours, old friends or our children. We can’t give up on people who suffer from mental illness, because, with the proper supports, there is always hope.
You probably know the need for our services is growing. Close to 1 million people currently experience mental health challenges in BC. And they face barriers like never before: a lack of supportive and affordable housing, increasing food prices, and a toxic drug poisoning crisis.
And whether they are young adults like Dayley or seniors, there simply aren't enough community-based services to go around. For someone living with severe depression, psychosis, OCD, or suicidal thoughts who needs support that isn't hospital-based, it can feel hopeless.
But we know that with the right support, everybody can find their place in our community.
Everyone deserves support, companionship and a safe space without judgement.
This holiday season, your gift can provide folks with community-based services like meals, basic supplies, cognitive remediation, peer support, music therapy and much more.

Dayley's Story
10,000 voices, echoing in her head all at once. Clamouring for attention. That’s what Dayley – a 28-year-old Vancouverite – was hearing. She didn’t know which was real. But it had very real consequences. It led her to suicidal thoughts and a psychiatric ward.
Dayley has been coming to Coast Mental Health for seven years now. For her, it’s a safe place, without judgement. Just support. And that's key to her healing.
While at Coast, Dayley's participated in brain training and music therapy. She’s learned how to bake pastries, and loves it. She even has a job working on our Street Clean Team.
And most importantly, she wants you to know that she is doing well now thanks to the support you provide.
" Coast changed my life for the better. Coming here has helped me stay out of the psych ward for quite some time. I share my story because a lot of other people out there experience things just like me and they don't know where to turn to for resources." - Dayley, Coast client
