Coast Mental Health is deeply saddened and disturbed by the tragic events that unfolded at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver.
Our sincere condolences go out to the families and individuals impacted by this shocking incident of violence. Our thoughts are especially with the Filipino community, including the many incredible Filipino people who work at Coast Mental Health.
At a time when spaces for connection and celebration are so important, it is heartbreaking that a festival intended to celebrate culture, community, and togetherness has been marred by such a devastating act.
Coast sends strength, love, and support to everyone grieving and impacted by this tragedy. We encourage anyone who is feeling pain from this incident to reach out for support. We also call on everyone to stand together with compassion and care for the Filipino community and for each other.
