VANCOUVER (April 2018) – A distinguished veteran broadcaster who is widely recognized in British Columbia has joined the Board of the Coast Mental Health Foundation, one of the leading philanthropic organizations in support of the recovery of people affected by mental illness.
“I am delighted to announce that Pamela Martin is now a Director on the Coast Mental Health Foundation Board,” said Leonard Schein, Board Chair. “Pamela joins a diverse group of talented individuals with different skills and experience. With her profile, background and communications expertise, Pamela will be an asset to our board in developing strategies to help those in need.”
For over 30 years as an award-winning news anchor and journalist, Pamela was a trusted voice bringing news and critical issues into the homes of millions of British Columbians. Pamela’s accomplishments are too many to mention and notably she has been an agent for change in the province engaging with various stakeholders and helping to advance the issues of the BC economy for families.
In addition to her new role with the Coast Mental Health Foundation Board, Pamela is also on the boards of the Women’s Leadership Circle Advisory Council of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade; Pacific Autism Family Centre Foundation; and Face The World Foundation.
“Coast Mental Health Foundation is very pleased to have Pamela join our board just prior to our 20th Anniversary of the Courage To Come Back Awards on May 10th at the Vancouver Convention Centre,” said Isabela Zabava, Executive Director of the Foundation. “This is an inspirational evening to recognize five British Columbians who have overcome their struggles in the areas of mental health, addiction, medical, and physical rehabilitation as well as a youth who have overcome multiple challenges.”
The Coast Mental Health Foundation was established in 2001 as the fundraising arm of Coast Mental Health society (a non-profit charity) which has been around for over 45 years to support the recovery of people with mental illness in our communities. Funds raised by the Foundation are channeled into innovative community programs operated by Coast Mental Health society to allow those in need to access housing, support and employment.
