Coast Mental Health: 2023 Lighthouse Grant Recipient

October 8, 2024, Vancouver – Coast Mental Health is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant for $993,000.00 by the Vancouver Foundation through the 2023 Lighthouse Organizations Fund, released in 2024.

This funding was made possible by the Government of British Columbia’s Stronger Community Services Fund and is a multi-year operational grant, which enables Coast Mental Health to expand its poverty reduction efforts and enhance services for vulnerable individuals across the province.

The Lighthouse Organizations Fund supports large, multi-service organizations with a provincial or regional footprint, empowering them to address poverty in a meaningful way. Coast Mental Health is honored to be recognized as a key contributor to this mission, as our programs play an essential role in improving the lives of individuals living with mental health challenges who are also at risk of poverty and homelessness.

“Our mission has always been to provide comprehensive community-based services to those who need it most, and this funding will allow us to strengthen our efforts to reduce poverty and build healthier communities,” said Keir Macdonald, CEO of Coast Mental Health. “We are grateful to the Vancouver Foundation for recognizing the importance of our work and for making a meaningful investment in organizations like ours that are working to create lasting change.”

With this funding, Coast Mental Health plans to:

  • Increase access to community-based mental health supports that help individuals stabilize and thrive.
  • Enhance job training and skills development to clients to improve their ability to secure stable, meaningful employment.
  • Strengthen partnerships with community organizations, and local Indigenous communities to enhance accessibility and inclusivity to broaden the impact of our poverty reduction efforts.
