The Community Homes division provides 24 hour support to 131 clients in 12 sites across
This year the division saw growth by opening Forglen in March 2009. This is Coast Mental Health’s first partnership with the Fraser Health Authority and supports 10 clients.
Community Homes remain committed to building client family connection. This resulted in a number of events in different the different homes.
The division mandates that all newly hired staff attend a global orientation prior to being able to work alone in one of the homes. This year over 65 new staff attended the training. Regular staff also attends this training occasionally as a refresher.
Community Homes remain committed to the highest level of quality and works to achieve this through the Quality Work Initiative Kit (QWIK). Over the year, the department has expanded QWIK to include QWIK Indicators and Outcomes, Site Safety and HR Components. All staff in the department has been trained on the new initiatives.
In the last year, Community Homes continued to establish good connections with education institutions and overall the division hosted 111 students from diverse backgrounds.
